Primary Education
Primary and Middle (lower primary (Standards I to V) and upper primary (Standards VI to VIII)) education is compulsory and free in India. Primary education begins at age 6 with Middle/Upper Primary school education ending at age 14. Schooling is offered at state-run and private schools, however, private schools often have poorer facilities and infrastructure than government schools. The regional language is the medium of instruction for most primary schools and English as a second language generally begins by grade 3.

L’éducation Primaire et Intermédiaire (Primaire inférieur (Standards I à V) et Primaire supérieure (Standards VI à VIII)) est obligatoire et gratuite en Inde. L’éducation Primaire commence à l’âge de 6 ans suivie d’une éducation Intermé-diaire/Supérieure se terminant à l’âge de 14 ans. L’éducation est offerte dans des écoles plubliques et privées, toutefois, les écoles privées ont souvent des facilités et des infrastructures plus modestes que les écoles gouvernementales. La langue régionale est celle utilisée dans la plupart des écoles primaires et l’Anglais est la langue seconde qui est enseignée à partir de la troisième année.
